When should you get tested?

Most infections need a little time before tests can detect them. If you have symptoms, don't wait — come in now.

Come in today if you notice

These are common early signs of an STD in men and women.

  • Burning or pain when urinating
  • Discharge from the penis or vagina
  • Sores, blisters or ulcers
  • Itching or redness
  • Unexplained rash, incl. palms or soles
  • Swollen glands in the groin
  • Flu-like illness 2–6 weeks after exposure
  • Pain in the testicles or lower belly
No symptoms? Many STDs have none. Your urologist will tell you the best day to test and when to re-test.

Typical testing windows

General guidance — your doctor confirms timing for your situation.

  • Chlamydia & gonorrhea About 1–2 weeks after exposure
  • Trichomonas, Mycoplasma About 1–4 weeks
  • Syphilis About 3–6 weeks; re-test may be advised
  • HIV Combination test from ~2–6 weeks; confirm later if advised
  • Herpes (HSV) Test sores right away; blood tests take longer
  • HPV / warts Warts may appear weeks to months later

FAQ

Straight answers

Can foreigners get STD testing in Korea without insurance?

Yes. You don't need Korean national health insurance or a Korean ID. Foreign patients pay directly, and the consultation is in English.

Is my visit confidential?

Completely. Consultations happen privately, and results are given only to you — in person or by private message.

Can I get results the same day?

Rapid tests can be read during your visit where available. PCR panels are more accurate and take a little longer; we send those results privately as soon as they're ready.

How soon after exposure should I test?

If you have symptoms, come in now. Without symptoms, most infections become detectable within a few days to a few weeks — your urologist will recommend the right test date and a re-test schedule.

Do you treat STDs, or only test?

Both. If something is found, the urologist explains it and starts treatment in the same visit, then arranges follow-up testing if needed.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours, but a quick WhatsApp or KakaoTalk message gets you a time slot and avoids waiting.
